Well, the day has come! Today we launch the Cool-Oh NFT collection, and I wanted to write a post on why this collection is different.

The art is hilarious, yes, and just that should be enough. But when we decided to build a team to launch this project, something struck me after doing some research: There’s no good information online that helps you understand how to run a full NFT campaign. Either you find people writing quick posts where they apply web 2.0 marketing strategies, or you find consultants who want to sell you their knowledge. This is fine, but what if you are on a budget and are bootstrapping?

So I decided to make Cool-Oh an Open Project. This means that we will show day by day how we are implementing our strategy. I will write posts about each challenge we face, record Youtube videos with short tutorials on how we solved different issues, and tweet about it.

Is this for you? Well, if you are thinking like us to launch your NFT collection, yes, it should be for you. Is it technical? Yes, it is. But I’ll share all the code we write. And mind you, I’m not a great coder, so if I can do it, I’m sure you will too!

But this is not only about the technical part. How do you build a community from scratch? How do you promote it? How do you manage and foster it? What strategies will we come up with to gamify our collection?

I certainly don’t have the answers to all of those questions, but hey, that’s the idea: Learn with us as we learn. And see us succeed or fail! I don’t have a damn clue about how this is going to turn up.

What I found out looking for information online

Do me a favor and try it for yourself. Google “how to run an NFT marketing campaign” and watch the result in agony.

First of all, don’t explain to me what a fucking NFT is. If I’m going to mint a collection, for fucks sake go to the point. And don’t tell me that an NFT marketing campaign is like traditional marketing. No way! Web3 has brought a new paradigm to the Internet, where communities are self-organizing to provide value, it brings the power back to them! So I’m sure you need SEO, emailing lists, paid advertisement, and such. But can you give me a template, a framework, or a best practices list? Have you actually run an NFT campaign? Why should I listen to you? Or are you just trying to confuse click-baiting me so I get frustrated and then I end up paying for your services?

I’m doing it myself and I’ll show you how I get stuck in the mud

I’m a builder, so I get excited about new challenges. If I need this information and I can’t find it, I’m sure there are many others that are on the same boat. I’m not an expert, but together with my team, I’m building it so you will be learning with us.

Building the community

Oh, and there’s another more selfish reason why I’m doing this. NFTs are a new thing, but the space is starting to be cluttered. Bringing attraction to your project is very challenging, so instead of telling people “come and buy my NFT” why don’t I start by giving something first? My expectation is that if I offer you my knowledge first, we will build the community together, and hopefully, at some point, you will fall in love with Cool-Ohs and you will be willing to have one (or more!) My mindset has always been to give before you ask. I hope you agree.

How are we organizing the information?

As this is a work in progress, things will change with time, but right now I’ll start publishing on Medium. The next post will be about the stack we use, and it will be followed by a post where I explain what we did before the kickoff, that is, what is the minimum I needed to build to feel comfortable with sharing this project with you.

I will also start a wiki to organize all the information we generate. Maybe one day this can be formatted into a framework.

And you can start by saving this link:

You see that we just started!

There you will find a dashboard with our analytics updated every day. And yes, I’ll tell you how I did it in a separate post. It took me a while to learn how to do it without paying!

If all this gets you as excited as all the Cool-Oh team is, start by joining our discord here:

People are already helping us to name our Cool-Oh Celebrities! We call them Cool-ohbrities.

Here you will find all the links you need to follow our project:

If you see that everything is unpolished, that we have few followers, our Discord server doesn’t have many members, or that our website is under construction, you should be excited because it means that you are early and have a front-row seat! You’ll see it grow as if it were your baby.

Cool-Oh has a great personality and its art should be enough to become a one-of-a-kind collection. But if we build it together it can become much more, as it will inspire many other collections and teach builders how to run a campaign.

I hope to see you on our Discord! Let’s have some fart!
